Self-Injury: A Struggle

Credits

Just a long and rather boring compilation of the programs, scripts and web sites I've used to help create and maintain this site. Covers the codes, domain, text and the visual.

Codes

The programming languages used were HTML, CGI, PHP, JavaScript and mySQL.

Coding was done through Notepad++ and NotePad. As well as The W3C Markup Validation Service to check syntax. phpMyAdmin was used to manage the mySQL tables. And the uploading of files was done through SmartFTP.

lazarus guestbook is the script used for the guestbook, it uses PHP and mySQL.

phpQuestionnaire Junior is a script used for polls, it uses PHP/mySQL.

dada mail is the script used for the updates list, it uses CGI and mySQL.

emailex is the script used for the forms, it uses PHP.

Maian Greetings is the script used for the post cards, it uses PHP and mySQL.

wordpress is the script used for the updates blog, it uses PHP and mySQL.

Domain

'Self-Injury: A Struggle' is hosted by liquidweb.com. The domain itself is handled through godaddy.com.

Text

The informational sections of the site make heavy use of the book, Scarred Souls. This is an excellent book on self-injury and was written by Tracy Alderman. The use of it is for educational purposes and not intended as a way to make profit.

The idea for the "Self-Injury Survey" and the "In Their Own Words..." part of the site was inspired by Deb Martinson's site, Secret Shame. I also found several of the resources I listed on my "Resources" page in Secret Shame and Young People & Self-Harm Information Resources. The idea for "In Loving Memory..." was partly inspired by Something Fishy Website on Eating Disorders.

Visual

The graphics were made with Photoshop CS program. The artwork used throughout the site, excepting that exhibited at the 'Gallery of Pain,' is from Edvard Munch - The Dance of Life.
